Port of Mombasa

Gateway to East and Central Africa

 Mombasa has for years been known as “the city of merchants” dating back to the times of Vasco Da Gama when Mombasa old port was used for trade between the East Coast of Africa and the Far East. After the construction of the Kenya Uganda Railway (1895-1902), a new port was born west of Mombasa Island. Subsequently the Port became an increasingly busy trading post for the region. Due to its strategic location, midway between South Africa and the Gulf of Aden, the Port has experienced tremendous traffic through the years. Port of Lamu

Welcome to the New Frontier

 Situated in Manda Bay Lamu, the Port of Lamu has been constructed to modern standards complete with superior infrastructure, at par with the most contemporary and best performing ports in the world. Comprehensive surveys carried out prior to construction confirmed the site to be the most suitable for the facility, due to its natural depth of 18 metres along the main channel to 60 metres at the bay. The port is a major component of the Lamu Port South Sudan Ethiopia Transport (LAPSSET) corridor project and the second commercial port in the country.
