Plans to create an Export Processing Zone – or possibly a Free Trade Zone – on a large site just outside the main port area of Mombasa have been drawn up by Kenya Ports Authortiy,subject to funding.Such a zone would allow the Port of Mombasa to evolve from a pure centre of transport and become more directly involved in added value activities such as cargo processing and logistics.
